About the Book
The basic premise of this book begins with the fact that everyone has a need for support, and, in some cases, counseling, sometime during their lifetime. Dr. Barrett writes from life experience as well as from practical hands on counseling, and as a mentor to countless numbers of people who have struggled with relationships and addictions. This book presents a new method of counseling called, “Competent Nouthetic Counseling.” This method is based on letting the person make their own decisions, with the guidance of a counselor or therapist. For years counselors and therapists controlled the person, and the person was dependent on the counselor or therapist. This is a new approach to counseling a person. People who go through these sessions should be expected to go through life with a successful ending, and find solutions to their problems, and experience healing at the same time. That is what this study is about; creating a non-dependence on the counselor. If you believe in these methods you will learn how to deal with your own problems as well as the problems of others you know, This will enhance your life as well as your friends and family.
