Jesus Giver of Hope Outreach

There are sixty-six books found in the Holy Bible. What if we were allowed to have only one book of the Bible to read and study? What book should we pick?

No hesitation. No need for debate. Easy answer.

The Gospel Of John!

The Gospel of John is a presentation of the hope found only in Jesus. Here is a presentation of Jesus and His personal feelings and thoughts as events unfold around Him. The writer, John, was viewed as the one closest to Jesus during His ministry on the earth.

The word “gospel” means “good news.” In this world, both then and now and all the time in between, there has not been a lot of good news. But now is the “good news” that the Lord Jesus Christ came into the world to save every person who would choose to come to Him. So much is wrapped up in the word “saved” as we will see as we read the Gospel of John.

Summed up within the life and ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ is the greatest news of all: We have the hope of eternal life. And we have the hope of the Lord Jesus Christ coming back for us.

This hope is a hope that is fixed on God. To hope is to trust, have faith and wait with patience, not in things or events, but in God Himself. Hope is the act of patiently enduring circumstances and looking beyond them to our hope in God alone. There is an endurance—an overcoming of events beyond our control—that is empowered by the Holy Spirit of God. And we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13). We read in I Corinthians 13:13 that there are three things that remain with us, faith, hope and love. And we have a good hope through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Thessalonians 2:16).

Text from website. If you have not read much of the Bible, you might find it worth noting there are people in the New Testament who are said to have the gift of 'evangelism' (see Eph. 4:11; Acts 21:8). We know that there are people today who are called evangelists. A more prominently known example would be Billy Graham, who established his own Evangelistic Association.

But are they the only ones called to spread the good news? Does that prayer apply only to preachers? Is evangelism really the work of pastors?

The Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, a pastor, to "do the work of an evangelist" (2 Tim. 4:5).

So should the called and the equipped become 'professional evangelists'? Are the rest of us to leave it alone for the most part? Are regular church members to be still and remain passive, inviting others to hear only pastors, preachers, speakers, and other trained evangelists?

The answer to that is an easy "no". It is what every believer is equipped to engage in, as it is simply sharing the good news, and that is something anyone can do.

The fact that you are reading this, is the result of modern day evangelists working together, from writers, designers, programmers, pastors, church members - all doing their own part to make sure you hear about Jesus, which brings us back around to the church.

If you have received the booklet, it is because a church member took the time out of their day, and to make sure that you had a chance to hear the good news - that Jesus Christ, through his life, death and resurrection, paid the price enduring the wrath of God on our behalf, so that we can have new life, as the recipients of hope.

If you have heard the good news but have not made a solid connection with a local church, we encourage you to contact the church who sponsored the printing of the booklet you received, or if you have simply come across the site, to search out a bible believing church in your area.

In your search for God, searching out a solid church will help you on your way!
